Future Energy Forum 2015 stresses

The Future Energy Forum 2015 organized by Expo Astana 2017 took place in Paris alongside the COP21 summit. It brought together more than 200 leading energy experts, scientists, business leaders, officials and representatives to tackle issues related to "Climate change and energy of the Future" under four key topics: Climate change and Trajectory of Energy, What is cutting Edge (Frontiers)?, What is beyond the Horizon?, Energy for all.

Vladimir Shkolnik, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stressed in his opening speech the fact that " there had never been a better time to consider the world's relationship with energy". "We recognize the crucial role that energy plays in the development process. However emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from fossil fuels are contributing to changes in the Earth's climate. This threatens security of hundreds of millions of people around the world, undermining the essential foundations of local, national, and global stability" he added.
As country representatives laboured to reach a global climate agreement in Paris, the Future Energy Forum 2015 demonstrated again the need to promote sustainable international cooperation and to raise awareness of the general public on this critical issue.
Vicente G. Loscertales, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), highlighted the fact that "The Future Energy theme of Astana Expo-2017 will have major implications for education, innovation and cooperation on all matters related to the energy sector."

The Future Energy Forum2015, organized by Expo 2017 Astana National Company in collaboration with Nazarbayev University, with the theme 'Climate Change and Energy of the Future' is the second in a series of international conferences of the pre-Expo period.
The Forum was followed by the first meeting of the International Scientific Committee, chaired by Secretary General of the BIE, Vicente G. Loscertales, to frame the principles for the Energy Best Practices area of Expo 2017.

In 2017, during the Expo Astana 2017, The Future Energy Forum will be one of the main features of the Expo and will last for the whole duration of the event, hosting debates, conferences, as well as panels, symposia, thematic weeks and workshops.
A specific Energy Best Practices area will showcase best policies, technologies, and products on the Expo site and will reinforce the Expos' missions of education and progress by providing tangible solutions to the world's energy challenges
